Oil and gas production and petroleum refining unavoidably generate large volumes of oily wastewater. Produced water packages ensure oily wastewater is disposed of in an environmentally satisfactory and efficient manner. Following the separation process, produced water still contains some suspended solids, oils and dissolved organic base which must be treated prior to disposal or re-use.
Produced water can be disposed of in a disposal wells, re-used (steam generator or water flood), or returned to the surface environment
Methods for removing suspended solids and oil from wastewater
Dissolved Air Flotation cells require minimal space for large throughput capacity and work well with emulsions. Flotation cells work by inducing gas in the form of small bubbles into the bottom of a vessel. As the gas bubbles rise, oil particles and solids adhere becoming entrained. The oil and suspended solids gather in a dense scum layer at the surface which can then be removed into a flume float for collection and treatment.
Coagulation technology is a good method due to its ability to effective remove emulsified oil, dissolved oil and some difficult dissolved organic bases ans has become widely used in recent years. However, due to this methods higher costs and the complexity of many oily wastewater compositions, particular treatment coagulants can make separation predictions difficult.
Activated Sludge and Biological filter treatments Biological treatment in the use of microbial metabolism, so that the water is dissolved, and colloidal organic pollutants harmless and stable s used frequently in activated sludge and biological filter treatments. Activated sludge in aeration tanks uses the current state vector as purifying microorganisms, by adsorption, and concentrated on the surface of the activated sludge microorganisms to decompose organic matter. In the biological filter method micro-organisms are attached to the filter, as waste water and organic pollutants travels through the filter surface, the micro-organisms destroy the pollutants during adsorption.
Membrane separation technology is the use of a special porous material manufactured for the interception role in the physical removal of a certain way of the trapped particle size of contaminants.
Produced water packages
Due to the complexity of oily wastewater, it can be difficult to achieve national standards for produced oily wastewater, using a single method. Multi-stage produced water packages provide automated control, and can reduce processing costs by providing a more efficient approach maximizing the advantages of various methods.
